A new 3D action game based on the popular Patlabor franchise has been officially announced. PATLABOR the Case Files is coming to PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. However, the developers have not shared a release date yet.

The game is being published by Good Smile Company and developed by Chime Corporation.

The new game also includes key names from the original Patlabor series. Yutaka Izubuchi is working as mechanical supervisor, Kazunori Itou is handling script supervision, and Akemi Takada is overseeing character art. This suggests the game will stay close to the original style and feel of Mobile Police Patlabor, which is something long-time fans will appreciate.

PATLABOR the Case Files is a 3D action game where players will relive iconic moments from the series. The game offers different gameplay perspectives.

Players can take part in Main Missions, where they play as Special Vehicle Section 2, and Another Side Missions, where they experience the story from the opposing side. The game will feature more than 20 Labors, including popular units like the Ingram, Griffon, and Type Zero. Each Labor is expected to have its own combat style, which adds variety to gameplay.

There is also a Simulator Mode. This mode lets players practice shooting and take part in Labor-versus-Labor combat. It looks like a good addition for players who want to improve skills or just enjoy combat without story pressure.

The game follows the core concept of the Patlabor universe. Laborers are robots mainly used for industrial work like construction. But as their use increased, crimes involving these machines also started rising.

To handle this, the police created a special unit known as the Special Vehicle Section 2 Patrol Labor Squadron. This is where the Patlabor units come into action.

The game will likely focus on this conflict between law enforcement and misuse of labor, which has always been central to the series.

This announcement is important for both anime fans and action game players. Patlabor has not seen many modern game adaptations, so this feels like a fresh attempt to bring the franchise back into the spotlight.
