Motorola has officially launched its first notebook-style foldable, the Motorola Razr Fold, at Mobile World Congress 2026. Most people were expecting an affordable foldable from Motorola, but the company has entered the ultra premium segment.

Motorola has focused heavily on durability. The Razr Fold is the first smartphone to feature Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 for better drop protection. It also comes with IP48 and IP49 ratings for dust and water resistance.

The cover display is a 6.6 inch pOLED panel with FHD+ resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. It can reach up to 6,000 nits of peak brightness. The main display is an 8.1-inch LTPO panel with a 1Hz to 120Hz variable refresh rate. It offers a resolution of 2484 x 2232 and a peak brightness of 6,200 nits.

The phone measures 4.6mm when unfolded and 9.9mm when folded. However, it weighs 244 grams, which makes it slightly heavy.

The Razr Fold is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, the same processor found in Motorola’s Signature series. It is paired with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of storage.

It runs on Android 16 out of the box. Motorola is promising up to seven years of Android updates and security patches. This is a big improvement, as software updates were one of the company’s weak areas in the past.

The phone features a triple 50MP rear camera system. It includes a 50MP Sony LYTIA 828 main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. For selfies and video calls, there is a 32MP camera on the outer display and a 20MP camera on the inner screen. The phone also supports 8K video recording with Dolby Vision.

Motorola says the Razr Fold delivers accurate exposure, wide dynamic range, and strong low-light performance. It also performs well in portrait and telephoto shots.

According to DXOMARK, the Razr Fold scored 164 points in camera tests. This is the highest score for any foldable phone so far. It even scored higher than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, which received 145 points. The Razr Fold ranked 9th overall among all smartphones, just four points behind the iPhone 17 Pro.

The device packs a 6,000mAh battery. It supports 80W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.

Special FIFA World Cup 2026 Edition

Motorola has also announced a FIFA World Cup 2026 Collection Edition of the Razr Fold. This special version features a raised dot pattern on the back and carries the official FIFA World Cup 2026 logo with 24K gold plating.

Price and Availability

Motorola has priced the Razr Fold at €1,999 in Europe, which is roughly $2,340. The phone is bundled with the Moto Pen Ultra in this market.

After Europe, the device will roll out to North America, Latin America, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East in the coming months. Regional pricing will be announced closer to launch in each market.

At this price, the Razr Fold directly competes with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold. This is clearly a flagship-level product.
