Lords of the Fallen has crossed an important milestone. The game has now sold more than 2.5 million copies worldwide as of the end of February 2026. This comes over two years after its launch in October 2023.

The game was developed by Hexworks and published by CI Games. It launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC.

The journey to this milestone has not been fast. The game sold over 1 million copies within the first 10 days of launch. But reaching 2.5 million took much longer.

Even with millions of players, the game only recently managed to recover its development and marketing costs. Reports suggest that the total budget was around $66 million, which shows how expensive modern game development has become.

Interestingly, the total player count is much higher than sales. At one point, the game had reached over 5.5 million players across platforms, including subscription services. This shows that many users tried the game through services like Game Pass rather than buying it directly.

On PC, the game had a strong start. It reached a peak of 43,075 concurrent players on Steam at launch. This is a decent number for a new action RPG, especially in a crowded genre.

However, player activity has dropped over time. Current concurrent players are much lower, which is common for single-player focused games after the initial launch period.

The game also received mixed to positive reviews from players. On Steam, a majority of reviews are positive, but there has been some criticism as well.

If we compare it with bigger titles, the gap is clear. For example, Helldivers 2 sold over 20 million copies and reached hundreds of thousands of concurrent players. This shows that while Lords of the Fallen is successful, it is still a mid-tier hit rather than a blockbuster.

The good news is that the franchise will continue. A sequel, Lords of the Fallen II, is already in development and is expected to launch in 2026. The sequel will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC. Early reports suggest that the developers plan to improve combat and overall gameplay based on feedback from the first game.
