Lenovo has introduced a new concept device that pushes the limits of handheld gaming. It is called Lenovo Legion Go Fold, a Windows-based gaming handheld that comes with a foldable display. It expands from 7.7 inches to 11.6 inches to transform into a mini laptop.

The device features a flexible POLED display and detachable controllers similar to Joy-Con style gamepads. In standard handheld mode, the screen measures 7.7 inches with the controllers attached on both sides. This setup feels similar to devices like the Steam Deck.

When unfolded, the screen expands to 11.6 inches, offering a much larger gaming experience. Users can reposition the detachable controllers on all four sides. This allows gameplay in both vertical and horizontal orientations.

In vertical split-screen mode, one half of the display can run the game while the other half shows a second window, such as chat or a guide. In horizontal full-screen mode, the entire 11.6-inch screen is used for gaming in a 16:10 aspect ratio.

Unlike clamshell foldables, the Legion Go Fold does not close inward to protect the display. The screen folds outward and can fold all the way back on itself. The focus here is not portability in a compact form, but offering a bigger screen when needed.

Lenovo has also added a laptop mode. By removing the controllers and placing the device into a folio case with a built-in keyboard and trackpad, the Legion Go Fold turns into a small Windows laptop. The controllers can be attached to a separate grip to form a unified gamepad.

It [acks strong specifications. The OLED display has a resolution of 2435 x 1712 and supports a 165Hz refresh rate. The device has a Core Ultra 7 258V Lunar Lake processor with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It is backed by a 48Whr battery.

There is also a second circular touchscreen located on the right controller. It works as a touchpad and can show system information, UI elements, a clock, or even animations.

Since this is still a concept, build quality and durability remain questions. The foldable screen has a visible crease in the middle, and attaching or detaching the controllers does not feel fully refined yet.

There is also no confirmation on pricing or availability.
