Foulball Hangover has announced that its mining and automation sandbox game Hydroneer will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on May 8. The console release comes exactly six years after the game first launched on PC via Steam.

Hydroneer started as a sleeper hit in the crafting and base-building genre. Since its launch, the game has sold over one million copies on Steam. Over time, the developer added major updates and new features, including couch cooperative multiplayer. These updates helped the game build a strong and active online community.

The console version will stay true to the original PC experience. However, the developer is optimizing the interface and controls to better suit console players.

Hydroneer offers a hands-on mining and crafting system. Players dig through dirt to discover ores and valuable gemstones. These materials can be smelted and used to craft different items.

Automation is a major part of the game. Players can build conveyor belts, automated harvesters, drills, and piping systems. This allows them to create large-scale automated smelting factories and extract resources more efficiently.

The game features an open world with multiple dig sites. Players can interact with NPC communities, take on quests, and visit stores across the map.

One of the key highlights is its couch cooperative multiplayer mode. Up to four players can work together on the same engineering projects, making it a great option for local multiplayer sessions.

The console release will also support the Journey to Volcalidus expansion, which first launched in 2024. This expansion will be sold separately from the base game.

Journey to Volcalidus introduces a brand new world map set in the land of Volcalidus. The new map is more than six times larger than the original game world.

The expansion also adds new lava powered automation technology. This new mining tech allows players to dig deep into icy shelves and explore more challenging environments.

Players will also get access to a new settlement called New Glade. In this area, they must rebuild an entire town from scratch. As the town is restored, new items become available for purchase. The settlement also acts as a safe refuge from the harsh climate of Volcalidus.
