FIFA has announced a new football game called FIFA Heroes. This new game takes a very different approach compared to traditional football titles. Instead of realistic simulation gameplay, FIFA Heroes focuses on fast-paced 5v5 matches with an arcade-style experience.

The game mixes real-world footballers with unexpected characters, including mythological figures like Thor and Sun Wukong.

The roster includes both active and legendary players. Some of the confirmed names are Diego Maradona, Harry Kane, Jordan Pickford, Eduardo Camavinga, Jack Grealish, Emiliano Martinez, and Lautaro Martinez. Interestingly, the game also includes players who are no longer alive, adding a nostalgic element.

FIFA Heroes is designed for short and quick matches. It supports online head-to-head gameplay and includes seasonal progression along with limited-time events. The focus is clearly on casual and mobile-first gaming, especially targeting younger players.

Players can use special powers like shooting flaming footballs, performing magnetic tackles, and even teleporting across the pitch. Along with players and mythological characters, the game also lets you play as national team mascots from countries hosting the upcoming tournament.

The game will launch on mobile devices on April 26 as a free-to-play title. It will also come pre-installed on select smartphones from Motorola. A release for consoles like PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch is planned for a later date, and the game will support cross-progression across platforms.

This announcement comes ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Previously, Electronic Arts used to make FIFA games, but their partnership ended in 2022. Since then, EA has continued its football franchise under the new name EA Sports FC, while FIFA appears to be exploring new directions with titles like FIFA Heroes.
