Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is now available on PC, and the early numbers look promising. The game has already reached a peak of 55,444 concurrent players on Steam. This is a strong start, especially when compared to the first game.
The original Death Stranding had a peak of 32,515 players. The Director’s Cut version did even lower, with 22,080 peak players. So the sequel is clearly doing better in its early days.
Another good sign is the user response. The game currently holds an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam. This shows that players are enjoying the experience so far.
Since these numbers are from the early days and not even the weekend, there is a good chance that player count will go higher in the coming days.
The game comes from Kojima Productions, led by Hideo Kojima. The studio is known for creating unique and different games, and this sequel continues that trend.
However, even with a strong start, the game is still behind some other PlayStation PC releases. Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut reached 77,154 concurrent players, while God of War hit 73,529. Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition also performed slightly better with a peak of 56,557 players. At the same time, not every PlayStation title has been successful on PC. Games like Returnal and LEGO Horizon Adventures have not seen similar success.
There are also reports that Sony may slow down its single-player PC releases. Some rumored titles may not arrive anytime soon, although plans can always change.
Looking at streaming numbers, the game is doing decent but not exceptional. It currently has around 1,345 active viewers on Twitch, with about 160 live channels streaming it. The 24-hour peak reached 2,202 viewers, while the all-time peak stands at 10,842 viewers.
These numbers show that while the game has strong player interest, it is not dominating streaming platforms yet.
