Valve has rolled out a new update for Counter-Strike 2, and this update has brought one of the biggest gameplay changes we have seen in a long time. The update completely changes how reloading works.

Earlier, when you reloaded, the remaining bullets in your magazine went back into your total ammo. So there was no real penalty for reloading early. You could reload after firing a few bullets and continue playing normally.

Now that is no longer the case. With this update, when you reload, the remaining bullets in your magazine are lost. You drop the magazine and use a fresh one from your reserve. This means reloading at the wrong time can actually cost you ammo.

This will seriously affect all the CS players for sure. For players like me who have the habit of reloading after every kill, this is going to be a big adjustment. I have been playing counter-strike for 20 years. That muscle memory can now get you into trouble, especially in clutch situations.

Valve has also added a small but useful UI change. There is now a new bar under the ammo count that shows how much is left in the current magazine. There is also a magazine count indicator, which helps you keep track of your ammo better during fights.

Valve has also rebalanced weapon ammo. Some guns now have more bullets, but many have been nerfed. The most noticeable changes are with the AWP and M4A1-S. Both have lost a significant amount of ammo. The AWP now has even fewer chances to miss shots, and the M4A1-S will require more careful usage than before.

Spray-heavy rifles like the Galil, M4A4 and FAMAS have received more total bullets. Some pistols like the P250 and CZ75-A also get a boost. On the other hand, high-impact weapons and spam-heavy guns have been nerfed. Snipers like the SSG-08 and auto-snipers have lost a huge amount of ammo, and several SMGs and pistols also see big cuts.

The community reaction has been mostly negative so far. Many players are confused about why Valve made such a fundamental change to a game that has stayed consistent for decades. A lot of players are asking for this change to be reverted.

But there are also players who think it would add more depth to the game. Ammo management now becomes an important skill along with aim and positioning.

There are also a few other features added in this update. Valve has added in-game map guides for early rounds in competitive matches. These guides help players with basic grenade lineups and positioning. It is a helpful addition, especially for newer players.

There is also a new “open party” feature that makes it easier for friends to join custom games.
