Apple has introduced a new Studio Display lineup, including an updated Studio Display and an all-new Studio Display XDR. The new monitors are designed to work closely with Mac devices and target both regular users and professionals.
The standard Studio Display now features a 12MP Center Stage camera with improved image quality. It also supports Desk View, which can show both the user and a top view of the desk during video calls. The display includes a three-microphone array and a six-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio support.
Apple has added Thunderbolt 5 connectivity to the new Studio Display. It comes with two Thunderbolt 5 ports and two USB-C ports. Users can connect high-speed accessories or daisy chain up to four Studio Displays. With the included Thunderbolt 5 cable, it can deliver up to 96W charging, which is enough to fast charge a 14-inch MacBook Pro.
The Studio Display continues to offer a 27-inch 5K Retina panel with more than 14 million pixels. It supports 600 nits of brightness and P3 wide color. Customers can choose between standard glass and nano-textured glass. The base model with a tilt-adjustable stand starts at Rs. 1,89,900.
The new Studio Display XDR is built for advanced workflows such as HDR video editing, 3D rendering, and design. It features a 27-inch 5K Retina XDR panel with a resolution of 5120 by 2880 pixels.
The display uses a mini LED backlight system with more than 2,000 local dimming zones. It supports up to 1000 nits of SDR brightness and up to 2000 nits of peak HDR brightness. Apple claims a contrast ratio of 1,000,000 to 1.
Studio Display XDR also adds a 120Hz refresh rate along with Adaptive Sync. The refresh rate can be adjusted between 47Hz and 120Hz, depending on the content. This helps improve motion smoothness in video playback and gaming.
For color accuracy, the display supports both P3 wide color and Adobe RGB. Apple says this makes it suitable for print professionals and HDR video creators.
The Studio Display XDR includes the same 12MP Center Stage camera, three-microphone array, and six-speaker system as the standard model. It also supports Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, with up to 140W charging. This is enough to fast charge a 16-inch MacBook Pro.
Apple has also introduced DICOM medical imaging presets for radiology workflows. A Medical Imaging Calibrator feature in macOS is expected to be available in the United States after regulatory approval.
The Studio Display XDR starts at Rs. 3,99,900 and replaces the previous Pro Display XDR in Apple’s lineup. It comes with a tilt and height-adjustable stand, and there is an optional VESA mount adapter for custom setups.
Both displays will be available for pre-order starting March 4 in select countries. Sales will begin on March 11 through Apple’s online store, retail stores, and authorized resellers.
