Samsung Galaxy S26 Series Announced with Top-notch Hardware, Privacy Display, and Agentic AI

Samsung has officially introduced the new Samsung Galaxy S26 series at its Galaxy Unpacked event. The lineup includes the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and the flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra. This year, Samsung is focusing on three main areas. The company wants to improve hardware design, push mobile photography further, and bring what it calls Agentic AI to everyday phone usage.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is the highlight of the series. Samsung has reduced the thickness to 7.9 mm, which makes it the slimmest Ultra model so far. Despite the slimmer body, it still packs a 5000mAh battery.

Another notable feature is the Privacy Display. Samsung says this is the first phone to feature such a system at the hardware level. The display restricts viewing angles so people sitting next to you in public cannot clearly see your screen. This feature can be useful for people who travel often or work from public places.

The device features a 6.9-inch Quad HD+ Infinity-O-Edge Dynamic AMOLED Display with 1-120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Armor 2 protection. It packs Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, up to 16GB RAM, and up to 1TB storage.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra features a 200MP main sensor with a wide f/1.6 aperture. It also includes a 50MP ultra-wide camera, a 10MP 3x telephoto lens, and a 50MP periscope lens with 5x optical zoom and up to 100x Space Zoom. Low-light performance has been improved with wider apertures and better image processing. Samsung is also focusing on Nightography Video. The device also supports the Advanced Professional Video format. This standard improves video compression while maintaining high quality. For content creators, this could mean better file efficiency without sacrificing detail.

Video stabilization has also been upgraded with improved Super Steady technology. For vloggers and mobile filmmakers, this matters more than just megapixels.

The front camera remains 12MP but now benefits from an improved AI Image Signal Processor. Samsung says this will produce more natural skin tones and better detail in mixed lighting.

In terms of connectivity, the S26 Ultra supports 5G SA and NSA, Wi Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, UWB, GPS with GLONASS, NFC, and USB Type C. It offers dual SIM support with nano SIM and eSIM options. The device includes an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The Galaxy S26 features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. In some markets, the phones use the Exynos 2600 processor with the Xclipse 960 GPU running up to 3.9GHz. In other markets, they use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. IN India, these devices will come with Exynos 2600. Both models come with 12GB RAM and storage options of 256GB or 512GB. They run Android 16 with One UI 8.5.

The rear camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor with a 1/1.56 inch size and f/1.8 aperture, along with OIS. There is a 12MP ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view and f/2.2 aperture. The third camera is a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS. The phones support 4K recording at 60fps and 8K recording at 30fps. On the front, there is a 12MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture that also supports 4K 60fps recording.

Connectivity features include 5G SA and NSA, 4G VoLTE, Wi Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS with GLONASS, NFC, and USB Type C. Both models support dual SIM configurations with nano SIM and eSIM.

Battery capacity is 4300mAh on the S26 and 4900mAh on the S26+. The S26 supports 25W wired fast charging, while the S26+ supports 45W wired fast charging. Both devices support 20W Qi2 wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare.

Samsung is putting a strong focus on software in the Galaxy S26 series. This year, the company is talking a lot about what it calls Agentic AI. In simple words, Samsung wants the phone to understand what you are doing and help you without waiting for exact commands.

One of the new features is Now Nudge. This feature gives small suggestions based on your activity. For example, if you open certain apps at a fixed time every day, the phone can remind you or suggest actions. Another feature is Now Brief. It shows short and useful updates in real time, so you do not have to search for information again and again.

Samsung has also improved Bixby. Earlier, users had to speak in a very specific way to make it work properly. Now, Bixby is more conversational. You can speak naturally and ask it to change settings, open apps, or manage tasks. You do not need to remember exact phrases. If this works smoothly, it can make daily phone use easier.

The Galaxy S26 series also has deeper integration with AI platforms like Gemini and Perplexity. Features like Circle to Search have been improved. You can circle anything on the screen and quickly search for it. Samsung has also upgraded its built-in AI photo editing tools. Users can edit images, remove unwanted objects, and improve quality directly from the Gallery app.

All models run One UI 8.5 on top of Android. The interface remains clean and customizable. Samsung has also promised seven years of Android updates and seven years of security updates. This is important because it means the phone will stay updated and secure for a long time.

On the security side, the phones include Knox Matrix protection and a Private Album feature for sensitive content. Samsung has committed to seven generations of operating system updates and seven years of security updates for the Galaxy S26 series. This matches the longest software support currently offered in the Android ecosystem.

Samsung has officially confirmed pricing for all variants of the Samsung Galaxy S26 series. The phones will be available for pre-order starting February 25, and shipments will begin from March 11 in several global markets.
