Motorola has announced a new smart stylus called the Moto Pen Ultra. This stylus is designed as a companion accessory for two of Motorola’s upcoming premium devices, the Motorola Signature and the Motorola Razr Fold.

Motorola describes the Moto Pen Ultra as an extension of the user’s hand. The idea is to turn supported phones into a digital canvas and a portable workstation. With this stylus, users can write, draw, edit, and annotate content more naturally than with touch input alone.

The Moto Pen Ultra comes in a black finish and is paired with a matching charging case. Motorola says the stylus and its case are designed to last all day before needing to be recharged. While the company has not shared exact battery numbers, it claims the case stores enough power to keep the stylus ready throughout a full day of use.

The Moto Pen Ultra features an ultra-fine tip, which is useful for detailed writing and precise drawing. It supports palm rejection, so users can rest their hand on the screen while writing or sketching without accidental touch input.

It also supports tilt detection. This allows artists and designers to add shading and texture simply by tilting the stylus, making it suitable for creative work like illustrations, notes, and design drafts.

Motorola has added several software features to improve the stylus experience. One of them is Quick Clip, which lets users quickly annotate screenshots, images, or documents and save them to a new or existing note without interrupting their workflow.

Another feature is Speed Share. This intelligently suggests contacts that the user is most likely to share notes or annotations with, making collaboration faster and easier.

The stylus also supports Sketch-to-Image, a feature that converts rough sketches into polished images. This can be useful for designers, students, and professionals who want to quickly turn ideas into visual content.

In addition, the Moto Pen Ultra supports Google’s Circle to Search feature. Users can circle, highlight, or tap on any on-screen content with the stylus to search for information instantly.

The Moto Pen Ultra is designed to work with the Motorola Signature and the Motorola Razr Fold.

At the moment, Motorola has not revealed the pricing or exact availability details for the Moto Pen Ultra. The company has only confirmed that it will be sold separately as an optional accessory. More details are expected closer to the launch of the supported smartphones.

Motorola has a long history of offering stylus support on its smartphones. In the past, the company has shipped phones with built-in pens, and it has also experimented with optional stylus accessories. A few years ago, Motorola introduced a smart stylus for the Motorola Edge+ (2022), which was sold separately. Now, Motorola is following a similar approach once again.
