Nintendo has released a new overview trailer for Mario Tennis Fever to give players a closer look at what to expect from the upcoming game. The trailer runs for around six minutes and highlights gameplay mechanics, characters, modes, and new features.
Mario Tennis Fever sticks to the core tennis gameplay fans are familiar with but adds a more explosive and over-the-top twist. Players can use standard shots like topspins, slices, and lobs, along with new defensive moves and flashy animations. During rallies, players build up a Fever Gauge, which can be used to unleash powerful Fever Shots that can turn the match in an instant.
The most notable thing is the new Fever Racket system. Players can equip special rackets that add unique effects during matches. Some rackets can freeze the court, some can shrink opponents using mushrooms, while others can create shadow copies of the player. Nintendo says there are 30 different Fever Rackets to experiment with, allowing players to mix and match strategies.
The game also boasts the largest roster in the series so far, with 38 playable characters from the Mario universe. This gives players more choice than ever when picking their main character, whether they prefer speed, power, or balanced play.
Mario Tennis Fever includes several game modes to suit different play styles. Tournament mode features live-style commentary from a Talking Flower. Trial Towers mode focuses on skill-based challenges and objectives. Mix it Up mode adds unexpected rules and Wonder Effects that change how matches play out. For online play, players can join casual matches through Online Rooms or compete seriously in Ranked Matches. The trailer also introduces Adventure mode, which brings a story-driven experience.
Nintendo has also confirmed motion control support. Players can swing their Joy-Con 2 like a real tennis racket in Swing Mode, which makes the experience feel more physical and interactive.
Mario Tennis Fever is scheduled to launch on February 12 for the Switch 2.
