Apple is adding a major PC strategy franchise to Apple Arcade. Sid Meier’s Civilization VII Arcade Edition will launch on the service on February 5. The game will be playable across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Civilization is one of the most well-known strategy game series in PC gaming. The new Arcade Edition brings the latest entry in the franchise to Apple’s subscription platform, without ads or in-app purchases. Apple says the game is designed to let players build and manage empires as they evolve across different eras of human history.
In Civilization VII, players choose from a roster of historical leaders and guide their civilization through multiple ages. Each era introduces changes that affect culture, strategy, and long-term progression. Player decisions shape how their empire develops, allowing for paths that follow real history or branch into alternate outcomes.
The arrival of Civilization VII continues Apple Arcade’s push to bring recognizable PC and console games to its catalog. Recent additions include titles like PowerWash Simulator and Cult of the Lamb Arcade Edition. Apple appears to be positioning Arcade as a place for deeper, longer games, not just casual mobile experiences.
Alongside Civilization VII, Apple Arcade will also add three more games on February 5. These include Retrocade, Felicity’s Door, and I Love Hue Too+. All of them will be available under the same subscription model, with no ads or extra purchases.
Apple is also rolling out updates to existing Arcade games. On January 22, Crayola Create and Play+ will get a limited-time event featuring Paddington. The update adds winter-themed activities and creative tasks for younger players.
