Adobe has rolled out new updates for Premiere Pro and After Effects, with a strong focus on AI-powered features. These features aim to reduce manual work, save time, and make video editing easier for both professionals and everyday creators.
In Premiere Pro, the biggest addition is a new AI-powered Object Mask tool. This feature lets users quickly select and track people or objects moving inside a video. You just hover over the subject and click. Premiere generates a mask in seconds. The mask is accurate by default, but users can resize or fine-tune it if needed. Adobe says this feature runs on-device using its own AI model and does not use user data for training, which should ease privacy concerns.
Adobe has also upgraded the Shape Mask tools in Premiere. Ellipse, Rectangle, and Pen masks can now be created directly from the toolbar. The controls are more precise, making it easier to adjust masks without frustration. Most importantly, these masks can now track objects up to 20 times faster than before. This reduces waiting time and keeps editors focused on creative work instead of progress bars.
Another useful update is the tighter integration with Firefly Boards. Editors can now bring media directly from Adobe’s AI-powered digital canvas into Premiere. Adobe Stock is also fully built into the app, making it easier to search, license, and use stock footage without leaving the editing timeline.

After Effects has also received meaningful updates. Users can now import SVG files commonly used in Illustrator, which helps designers move assets between apps without extra conversion steps. Adobe has also added 3D parametric meshes, such as cubes, spheres, cylinders, cones, and planes. These allow creators to build realistic 3D objects directly inside After Effects, without relying heavily on third-party tools.
For users, these updates mean faster workflows and fewer repetitive tasks. Editors can spend less time masking, tracking, and importing assets, and more time refining stories and visuals. For motion designers, the new 3D and SVG features make After Effects more powerful as an all-in-one tool.
These changes strengthen Adobe’s position in a competitive creative software market. By keeping advanced AI features inside its core apps and running them locally, Adobe adds real value for subscribers while encouraging users to stay within the Creative Cloud ecosystem.
