The long-awaited return of the historic “medieval” era for the Total War franchise is now real. Developer Creative Assembly has officially announced Total War: MEDIEVAL III. The announcement opens a new chapter for fans who have waited nearly two decades since the last mainline medieval title.
According to Creative Assembly, the game is currently in early pre-production. The game will run on a new engine named Barcode, which is built to deliver modern performance, better visuals, and deeper simulation than past Total War games.
The game returns to a purely historical setting and promises to revive the grand, large-scale medieval warfare that made the original titles beloved. The company calls it “the rebirth of historical Total War.”
Although we have the announcement trailer, the studio confirmed that the game is still “years away” from release. It suggests that Creative Assembly wants to keep fans informed throughout development and rebuild trust.
