Amazon Games and Crystal Dynamics have officially revealed Tomb Raider: Catalyst, the next major entry in the iconic action-adventure series. The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and is set to release in 2027. This new chapter takes Lara Croft on a fresh journey, and the studio says it will be the biggest and most ambitious Tomb Raider game ever made.

Tomb Raider: Catalyst sends Lara to Northern India, where a mythical disaster has shaken the region and awakened long-hidden powers. The story picks up after a mysterious cataclysm, opening the door to ancient secrets that have been buried for centuries.

Treasure hunters from around the world rush to the area, all looking to claim the same powerful secret. Lara must race against them, uncover the truth, and stop those who want to use this power for their own benefit. As usual, she will face both new allies and dangerous rivals, and she will have to decide who she can trust.

Crystal Dynamics is using Unreal Engine 5, which allows the team to create the largest and most detailed Tomb Raider world yet. Players can expect massive open areas, hidden ruins, and tombs filled with puzzles that bring back the classic spirit of the franchise.

Lara’s gear will also be more customizable, giving players new tools to explore, solve puzzles, and survive the dangers of the ancient world.

The developers say this game will challenge Lara in new emotional ways. It is described as a story about trust, betrayal, and the tough choices Lara must make as the ancient world collides with the modern one.

Acclaimed actress Alix Wilton Regan, known for roles in Dragon Age: Inquisition, Cyberpunk 2077, and Mass Effect 3, will voice Lara Croft in both Tomb Raider: Catalyst and the upcoming animated project Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis.
