OPPO has launched its new budget 5G smartphone in India, the OPPO A6x 5G. It is the successor to the A5x 5G that arrived earlier this year. The company is positioning this device as a value-for-money option for users who want long battery life, a smooth display, and stable connectivity at an affordable price.
The phone features a 6.7-inch HD+ LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The peak brightness reaches up to 1,152 nits, which is good for outdoor visibility at this price point. The brightness and smooth scrolling should make everyday use feel better, even though it is still an HD+ panel and not Full HD+.
The OPPO A6x 5G keeps the same MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor as the previous model. OPPO has now increased the RAM option to 6GB, with a virtual RAM option as well. The phone includes AI GameBoost to enhance gaming performance and improve power efficiency. There is also Splash Touch mode, which helps the touchscreen respond even if your fingers are wet or sweaty. Connectivity gets a boost with AI LinkBoost 3.0, which aims to maintain stable network performance in difficult signal conditions.
It runs ColorOS 15 based on Android 15, which brings features like the Luminous Rendering Engine to improve visuals across the UI.
It has a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera. These are basic cameras and will be fine for casual photos, but users should not expect much in low light or detailed shots. OPPO is clearly not positioning this phone as a camera-focused device.
Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C, dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.1. The phone supports expandable storage up to 1TB with a microSD card, which is useful at this price point.
The A6x 5G weighs 212g and is 8.58mm thick. OPPO says the design is inspired by its flagship phones. It has a unibody metallic frame, a cleaner camera deco design, and lens coating to resist fingerprints and water.
The biggest highlight is the large 6,500mAh battery. OPPO claims the phone can deliver up to 882 hours of standby time and up to 22.4 hours of video playback, which is impressive. This makes the phone suitable for users who want long battery backup. It supports 45W SUPERVOOC fast charging, which can charge the battery from 1% to 41% in 30 minutes.
Pricing and availability
The OPPO A6x 5G is available in Ice Blue and Olive Green. OPPO is offering three variants:
- 4GB + 64GB: Rs. 12,499
- 4GB + 128GB: Rs. 13,499
- 6GB + 128GB: Rs. 14,999
The smartphone is now available across Amazon, Flipkart, the OPPO Store, and offline retail stores. Buyers can also get a three-month no-cost EMI option on select bank cards.
For its price, the OPPO A6x 5G focuses mainly on battery life, smooth display, and reliable connectivity. The 120Hz screen is a plus, and the 6500mAh battery will easily last more than a day for most users. The 45W charging is also good at this price.
However, the phone still uses an HD+ display, which may feel less sharp compared to competitors that offer Full HD+ panels in the same price range. The camera system is also very basic with just a 13MP main camera. The Dimensity 6300 is decent for regular tasks but not very strong for heavy gaming.
