Lava has launched its new 5G smartphone, the Lava Play Max, in India. The Play Max is aimed at users who want a smooth display, clean software, and reliable performance without spending too much. Lava continues its approach of offering bloatware-free phones, and the Play Max follows the same philosophy with Android 15 out of the box.
The phone comes with a 6.72-inch FHD+ LCD display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel is flat and offers good clarity, which makes it suitable for gaming, social media use, and general day-to-day tasks.

The phone packs a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset. It is built on a 4nm process and is paired with up to 8GB RAM, with the option to add another 8GB through virtual memory. The phone also has segment-first Vapor Chamber Cooling, which should help in maintaining stable performance during longer gaming sessions. Storage is 128GB UFS 3.1 by default, and you can expand it up to 1TB via a microSD card.
The Play Max features a 50-megapixel rear camera with EIS and support for up to 4K 30fps video recording. On the front, the phone has an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The camera setup is simple, but Lava is focusing on offering stable video and clean photos rather than unnecessary camera gimmicks.
It also includes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and comes with IP54 dust and water resistance for added durability. Connectivity options include 5G SA/NSA, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and USB-C. One of the highlights, as always with Lava, is the Free Service @ Home support, which continues with this model as well.
The phone packs a 5000mAh battery and supports 33W fast charging.
