Square Enix has released a free demo for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on the upcoming Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S. The demo is now available ahead of the game’s full release, which is scheduled for January next year.

The demo includes the game’s iconic opening chapter. Players can carry their progress from the demo into the full version once the game launches. This gives fans a chance to experience the story and combat early, and also see how the remake performs on different platforms. On Switch 2, the demo requires at least 8GB of storage, making it a decent test of Nintendo’s new hardware.

Square Enix is also offering an additional incentive for early buyers. Players who digitally pre-order Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on Switch 2 or Xbox Series X/S will receive a free copy of the original Final Fantasy 7 from 1996. This offer is available until 31 January 2026, giving new players enough time to experience the classic game before jumping into the remake.

For those who prefer physical copies, Square Enix has confirmed a separate bonus. Pre-ordering the physical version will include a Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy Play Booster pack, which contains 15 random cards. This offer is limited and will be available while stocks last.

The full game will launch on Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S on 22 January 2026. Square Enix has also confirmed that the complete Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy will eventually be available on both platforms, alongside existing versions on PS5 and PC.

There are a few limitations on the Switch 2 version. The physical release will be a Game Key Card, which acts as a download key rather than a full cartridge. Players will still need to download the full game, which will take up more than 90GB of storage. This makes it one of the largest titles announced for the system so far.
