IO Interactive has officially delayed its upcoming James Bond game, 007 First Light. The game was earlier scheduled to launch on March 27, 2026. It will now be released two months later on May 27, 2026. The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
In an official message shared with players, IO Interactive said the delay was needed to ensure quality. The studio described 007 First Light as its most ambitious project so far. According to the developer, the extra time will help the team polish and refine the experience before launch. IO Interactive also confirmed that the game is already fully playable from start to finish.
The studio explained that 007 First Light aims to deliver a complete James Bond experience. This includes action-heavy missions, global locations, spy tools, gadgets, car chases, and cinematic moments. As an independent developer and publisher, IO Interactive said the delay allows them to meet player expectations on day one.
007 First Light was first revealed after IO Interactive announced it had secured the James Bond game license. The announcement created strong interest, especially after the success of the Hitman series. Fans were curious to see how the studio would handle a story-driven action game based on the Bond universe.
Earlier reports and teasers suggested that the game would feature an original Bond story rather than directly adapting a movie plot. So, players will have freedom and detailed environments to enjoy.
IO Interactive said it will share more updates about 007 First Light in early 2026.
