Crescent Tower, an 8-bit style 2D dungeon RPG, is now available on the Nintendo Switch. The game is priced at $9.89 as part of a launch discount on the eShop, and the price will increase to $10.99 after December 3. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions will be released on November 27. The game was first launched on PC via Steam on August 19.
Crescent Tower is designed for players who love classic dungeon crawlers. It uses a nostalgic 8-bit art style and mixes it with simple but strategic turn-based combat. The game tells the story of a mysterious tower that appears once every 50 years in the city of Mayirdoam. Legends speak of a jewel that can grant any wish and a potion that offers immortality. Adventurers from across the land travel to the city to uncover the secrets hidden at the top. You play as one of these explorers entering the tower.
The game offers character creation with a choice of three races and nine classes. Players can change jobs multiple times and carry over learned skills, allowing deeper customization as the adventure progresses. The entire dungeon has 10 levels, shown from a 2D top-down perspective. Visibility expands as players light torches, and the dungeon is filled with traps and hidden mysteries.
Mapping is an important part of the gameplay. Players must explore carefully and build their own map while navigating each floor. The average playtime is between 10 and 20 hours, which makes it a compact but engaging retro RPG experience.
