Canon India has launched its new EOS R6 Mark III full-frame mirrorless camera, along with the RF45mm F1.2 STM lens. The new camera succeeds last year’s R6 Mark II and comes with several upgrades, including a higher-resolution 32.5-megapixel sensor, faster shooting, and better video recording options aimed at professionals.
The EOS R6 Mark III can shoot up to 40 frames per second using the electronic shutter and 12 fps with the mechanical shutter. It supports 7K 60p internal RAW recording and 3:2 Open Gate 7K 30p RAW video to give creators more flexibility while editing. Canon also offers options like Canon Log 2, Canon Log 3, HLG, and HDR PQ, which are useful for professional color grading.
Canon has also improved autofocus performance with Dual Pixel CMOS AF II. It allows better subject tracking even in challenging conditions. A new feature called Register People Priority helps photographers prioritize pre-registered faces in crowded scenes, which is useful for both photo and video shoots.
The camera keeps the strong body design of the R6 Mark II but adds improved ergonomics and more customizable buttons, making it easier to handle during vertical shooting. Canon has also added tools like waveform monitoring, false colors, and zebra patterns for exposure and color checks.
For creative control, users get 14 color filters and Slow & Fast Motion modes for flexible video work. The in-body 5-axis image stabilization helps achieve steady footage, even when shooting handheld.
Alongside the camera, Canon introduced the RF45mm F1.2 STM, a lightweight lens weighing around 346 grams. It offers a bright f/1.2 aperture that helps in low-light conditions and produces smooth background blur. On APS-C cameras like the EOS R50, it gives an equivalent focal length of 72mm, making it suitable for portraits and street photography. The lens uses PMo aspherical elements and STM motor technology for quiet and precise autofocus.
