OnePlus has officially unveiled its most ambitious flagship yet, the OnePlus 15, in China. The phone brings several industry-first technologies, from display innovations to cooling systems, all wrapped in a premium design. It will also be the first smartphone in India to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset when it launches globally next month.

The OnePlus 15 features a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED LTPO display with up to 165Hz refresh rate. The company says it is the world’s first third-generation “Oriental screen,” a panel that sets new standards for brightness, clarity, and energy efficiency. The bezels are extremely thin at 1.15mm, which makes the screen feel almost edge-to-edge.

The display panel has a 1,800 nits of peak brightness, up to 330Hz of touch sampling rate, and 450 ppi pixel density. It also supports 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut and 1.07 billion colors.

The phone introduces a new “Dune Aesthetic” with a refined Metal Cube Deco look. It has square edges, a 50:50 weight balance, and premium materials. It comes in three colors: Sand Dune, Absolute Black, and Misty Purple, each with unique textures. The Sand Dune variant uses a Primary Color Nanometal Process, while the Misty Purple. The phone also offers IP69K dust and water resistance.

The display has earned DisplayMate A++ ratings and supports hardware-level 1-nit low brightness mode. So, it offers a comfortable viewing experience in dark environments. It also reduces flicker and harmful blue light. OnePlus claims it is the first screen to receive the “Little Gold Label” eye protection certification.

These claims sound impressive, and given OnePlus’s history of high-quality panels, it seems believable. However, real-world results will tell how much better it feels compared to Samsung’s top-tier AMOLEDs or Apple’s Super Retina panels.

The phone packs Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Qualcomm’s most powerful chip yet. It is paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB UFS 4.1 storage. To manage heat, OnePlus has added a new Glacier Cooling System using ultra-thin “hand-tearable steel” and aerospace-grade supercritical aerogel, similar to materials used in rocket insulation. This should help maintain performance during long gaming or video sessions.

There is also a G2 gaming network chip for faster connectivity. OnePlus claims 65% lower latency, 71% faster game updates, and 42% quicker video uploads on congested networks. Gamers will be happy to know that the OnePlus 15 is the official device for the Valorant Mobile National Tournament and Peace Elite Pro League. With “Touch Display Sync,” the company has improved touch accuracy and reduced input delay.

The device runs Android 16 with ColorOS 16.

OnePlus 15 includes a 50MP Sony sensor for the main camera with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide, and a 50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto lens. This setup, powered by OPPO’s LUMO Condensed Light Imaging, aims to deliver realistic colors and balanced contrast. It supports 4K 120fps Dolby Vision recording and even 8K video capture. There is also a 32MP front camera with up to 4K 60fps video recording.

On the Specs sheet, if OPPO’s imaging algorithms are truly integrated well, this could be the company’s best camera setup yet.

The phone has 5G SA/ NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 7 802.11 be, Bluetooth 6.0, Beidou, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, NFC, and USB Type-C USB 3.2 Gen 1. It also offers an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and an infrared sensor.

The device packs a massive 7,300mAh battery, the largest ever in a OnePlus phone. It supports 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The company says it can deliver 6 hours of streaming in just 5 minutes of charge.
