Google is expanding its Nano Banana AI (Gemini 2.5 Flash Image) to more of its apps and services. The AI tool, which helps create and edit images, will now be available in Google Search and NotebookLM. The company also has a rollout planned for Google Photos in the coming weeks.

In Google Search, Nano Banana is part of the AI Mode and Google Lens for users in the US and India. Users can open Lens in the Google app on Android or iOS, switch to Create mode, and type a prompt. They can also take a photo and describe the edits they want.

The update for NotebookLM focuses on the Video Overviews feature. Nano Banana adds more context and visual appeal to AI-generated video summaries. Google is also introducing six new styles: Papercraft, Watercolor, Anime, Whiteboard, Retro Print, and Heritage. Users can create two types of videos. Explainer videos for detailed, structured summaries, and Brief videos for quick overviews of a document’s core ideas.

Nano Banana first appeared in August as part of the Gemini app and has already been used to generate over five billion images. Developed by Google DeepMind, the model improves image consistency, especially for people and animals. It allows users to change a person’s outfit, predict future appearances, blend multiple photos, and apply the style of one image to another object.
