New Zealand-based studio Digital Confectioners, known for games like Depth and Dread Hunger, has announced its next ambitious project, Triarchy. It is a cooperative action RPG designed for up to three players. The game is set to release on PC via Steam in 2026.
Triarchy takes players to a vast, open-world archipelago filled with mystery, danger, and powerful creatures. You can sail your own ship, explore scattered islands, and battle deadly bosses in a world that rewards teamwork and skillful combat.
The game can be played solo or with up to two friends, and features drop-in, drop-out co-op, meaning you can join or leave a friend’s world at any time. Progress, loot, and achievements stay tied to your own character, so your journey continues even when you play alone.
Triarchy focuses on strategic, melee-based combat. Battles require careful timing, stamina management, and precision dodging. Players can parry attacks, break enemy poise, and chain weapon combos for devastating results.
The developers promise a system that rewards mastery where each weapon type has its own rhythm and feel. You can even dual-wield weapons freely, mixing different blades to create unique attack styles.
As you level up, you can customize your playstyle through a Talent Tree, unlocking abilities that enhance offense, defense, or support roles. This flexibility allows players to define their own fighting approach, whether as a frontline brawler or a tactical ally.
While the combat and boss mechanics cater to hardcore players, Triarchy also includes Assists and accessibility settings that make it easier for newcomers to enjoy. Players can adjust factors like damage dealt, parry timing, or stamina drain individually.
The game is still in early development, but if it delivers on its promise, Triarchy could become a standout title in the growing co-op RPG space when it launches in 2026.
