Valheim, the popular Viking survival game, will finally make its way to PlayStation 5 in 2026. The game is currently available in Early Access on PC and Xbox, and soon PlayStation players will also get a chance to experience it.
Developed by Iron Gate Studio and published by Coffee Stain Publishing, Valheim first arrived on PC in 2021, followed by Xbox in 2023. Since then, it has built a massive community of fans. The game has sold more than 12 million copies and holds an impressive 94% “Very Positive” rating on Steam.
Valheim is a survival and exploration game inspired by Viking culture. It can be played solo or with up to 10 players. The world is procedurally generated, giving every adventure a unique feel. Players battle enemies, gather resources, build bases, and try to survive in the harsh tenth realm.
Over the years, the game has grown with several major updates:
- Hearth & Home added new survival and base-building mechanics.
- Mistlands introduced a foggy biome with new creatures and a magic system.
- Ashlands brought fiery cliffs, boiling waters, and dangerous threats.
- Call to Arms, announced at Gamescom, revamped the combat system with new enemies, weapons, armor, and materials.
The upcoming PlayStation 5 launch means Valheim will reach an even bigger audience. With its mix of survival, exploration, and Norse mythology, it is set to be one of the most exciting co-op survival games on the platform.
