OpenAI has announced two major initiatives aimed at giving more people access to AI skills and economic opportunities. The company plans to launch the OpenAI Jobs Platform and a certification program that could train 10 million Americans by 2030.

AI is changing the way we work. OpenAI says it can help businesses run more efficiently, let people turn ideas into income, and even create jobs that do not exist today. But the company also acknowledges that AI will disrupt the job market. Roles will change, companies will need to adapt, and everyone, from shift workers to CEOs, will need to learn new ways of working.

The OpenAI Jobs Platform is designed to connect people with AI skills to companies that need them. The platform will use AI to match candidates with the right jobs. It will serve not just big corporations, but also local businesses and government offices. For example, the Texas Association of Business plans to use the platform to link thousands of local employers with skilled workers who can help modernize their operations.

Alongside the Jobs Platform, OpenAI is expanding its OpenAI Academy into a full certification program. The academy has already helped more than 2 million people learn AI skills for free. The new certifications will cover different levels of AI knowledge—from basic workplace skills to advanced roles like prompt engineering and AI-custom jobs. Learners can study and prepare for certifications directly inside ChatGPT, and companies can integrate these certifications into their employee training programs.

OpenAI has partnered with major employers, including Walmart, to roll out the certifications. Walmart CEO John Furner said AI training will give employees the tools to shape the future of retail. The company has designed the program to focus on real skills that employers need. The goal is to help people get better jobs and earn higher wages.

OpenAI wants to make AI skills accessible to as many people as possible, not just a select few. While there is still a long way to go, these programs are an important step toward helping more Americans take advantage of the opportunities AI can provide.
