Meta has officially announced its first pair of AR glasses with a built-in display. The new Meta Ray-Ban Display will cost $799 and will arrive in select US stores starting September 30. The glasses will be available at Best Buy, LensCrafters, Ray-Ban, and Verizon. Meta also confirmed that the rollout will expand to Canada, France, Italy, and the UK in early 2026.
The Ray-Ban Display glasses feature a translucent heads-up display (HUD) that can show text chats, AI prompts, directions, photos, and even video calls. You can interact with the display using gestures, such as swiping your fingers to type out a reply. Each pair comes with the Meta Neural Band, a dedicated EMG wristband that makes these interactions possible.
During the launch at the Connect 2025 conference, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg demonstrated several features of the glasses. He was able to open Spotify and play music, take photos, and use real-time subtitles. However, the glasses failed to receive a phone call during the live demo. Despite that, Meta says the HUD will support Meta AI with visuals, messaging, navigation, live captions and translations, video calling, and music playback.
Zuckerberg also streamed his point of view through the glasses at the event. The HUD appeared on the right side, showing apps like Spotify, calendar reminders, text chats, and incoming images. Users will be able to respond by dictating a message, sending emojis, or choosing a quick reply.
The glasses and wristband will be offered in black and sand colors, and in two sizes: standard and large. They also come with Transitions lenses that adjust automatically based on lighting conditions.
Meta says the display offers “extremely high resolution” with 42 pixels per degree of field of view, which is higher than the Meta Quest 3S at 20 pixels per degree. Battery life is rated at six hours of mixed use, with up to 30 hours in total, while the Neural Band provides 18 hours and has an IPX7 water resistance rating.
The Meta Ray-Ban Display joins other smart glasses announced at Connect 2025, including the second generation of Ray-Ban Meta glasses and the Oakley Meta Vanguard.
The launch was not a complete surprise, as a leak earlier this week spoiled the reveal. But with this announcement, Meta has finally confirmed its long-rumored AR glasses with a built-in HUD.
