Google Photos is getting smarter. Android users can now edit their photos by simply talking to or texting the AI. The company announced the feature on Tuesday, powered by its Gemini AI.
Instead of searching for editing tools, users can just describe what they want. You can type or say commands like “make the photo brighter” or “remove the person in the background,” and the AI will do the work.
The new option appears as “Help me edit” in the photo editor. Once selected, you can describe changes, pick from Gemini’s suggestions, or just ask it to “make it better.” The system also supports follow-up requests, so you can refine edits step by step.
The AI can handle basic edits such as lighting adjustments and distraction removal. It also supports advanced changes like restoring old photos or adding creative AI-generated elements for a unique look.
This feature first appeared on the Pixel 10 series in the U.S. earlier this year. Now, it is expanding to more Android users. At the moment, it is only available in English and limited to users aged 18 and above in the U.S.
