FromSoftware Announces ‘Deep of Night’ Mode for Elden Ring Nightreign

'Deep of Night' Mode for Elden Ring Nightreign

FromSoftware has announced a brand-new mode for Elden Ring Nightreign, making the roguelike even more challenging for experienced players. The update, called Deep of Night, is set to release on September 11 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

Launched earlier this year, Elden Ring Nightreign takes a different direction from the mainline Soulslike RPGs, focusing on a roguelike cooperative experience. Since its release, the game has received multiple updates, including revamped bosses and gameplay tweaks. With Deep of Night, FromSoftware is now introducing an endgame mode specifically designed for “seasoned players who have navigated through the Night many times.”

Unlike regular runs, Deep of Night will not allow players to choose which Nightlord they will face. The dynamic environmental effects and terrain changes that usually make each run unique will also be absent. Instead, the challenge will come from unpredictability and survival against tougher foes.

To make things more interesting, the mode introduces Depths Relics, new special weapons that carry both powerful bonuses and harmful drawbacks. These risk-reward mechanics aim to push players to adapt their strategies on the fly.

FromSoftware explained that the deeper squads progress, the harder the experience becomes. The difficulty is tied to “depth levels,” with Depth 3 being a key milestone and Depths 4–5 offering endless battles to test endurance. Player performance, including wins and losses, will directly impact ratings and difficulty scaling.

Describing the mode, FromSoftware called it “a high-difficulty mode that provides a thrilling and challenging adventure,” which encourages players to test how far they can go.

Elden Ring Nightreign has carved out its own identity since launch, moving away from the sprawling open-world style of Elden Ring to deliver a replayable roguelike adventure with co-op elements. With Deep of Night, the game is getting a new layer of challenge that looks set to keep veteran players hooked for months to come.
