IO Interactive, the studio behind the HITMAN series, has officially announced 007 First Light. It is a brand-new James Bond video game launching in 2026. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store).

007 First Light is not a sequel. It is a completely new origin story of James Bond. You will get to play as a young Bond — full of potential, but not yet the polished agent we know. The story begins after a heroic act during his time as a naval air crewman. That is when he is invited to join MI6’s newly revived Double 0 program.

Things soon take a darker turn. A mission goes wrong, and Bond is forced to work with a reluctant mentor, Greenway, to stop a dangerous conspiracy that threatens the very heart of the state.

IO Interactive has spent 25 years perfecting stealth and action gameplay with the HITMAN franchise. Now they are bringing that experience to the world of James Bond.

“We’re creating a cinematic adventure that pushes the boundaries of what a James Bond game can be,” said IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak. “It’s a fresh, new story tailor-made for fans.”

007 First Light has a standalone story that shows how a bold young recruit became the world’s most famous secret agent. You travel to stunning locations, drive iconic Bond-style vehicles, and chase down a rogue agent who always seems one step ahead. You can use stealth, gadgets, combat, or clever tricks to complete missions. Whether you prefer going silent or going loud, the choice is yours.

A new trailer is out now, along with the first official screenshots that show a glimpse of what the game will look like. Watch it here.
