WhatsApp Experiences Global Outage

WhatsApp

Update: It seems WhatsApp is now working. I tried sending messages in both individual and group chats. Messages are now working fine.

On Saturday evening, WhatsApp users across the globe faced a significant service disruption, rendering them unable to send messages, upload statuses, or access the app’s functionalities. The outage began around 5:30 PM IST and affected both the mobile application and WhatsApp Web.

Downdetector, a platform that monitors service outages, reported a surge in complaints from users worldwide. In India alone, over 900 reports were logged, with approximately 90% citing issues with sending messages.

I was unable to send any messages in group chats, but individual chats were working with delays in message delivery.

Several users expressed their frustrations on X and shared screenshots of undelivered messages.

As of now, Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has not released an official statement regarding the cause of the outage or an estimated time for resolution. The lack of communication has left users in the dark, relying on social media and outage tracking platforms for updates.
