Nintendo has officially announced that Mario Kart World will launch alongside the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025. The game is priced at $79.99 in the U.S. and promises to redefine the racing experience with seamless, interconnected tracks and exciting new gameplay features.

According to Nintendo, Mario Kart World introduces a vast, open environment where players can race across connected courses without interruptions. The game supports up to 24 racers per competition. This makes it the largest Mario Kart experience yet.

It also features Knockout Tour mode, where players must maintain a high enough placement at each checkpoint to avoid elimination. This intense, no-pit-stop mode will test racers’ skills as they barrel through back-to-back courses in a high-speed challenge. If you prefer a relaxed experience, Free Roam mode allows players to break away from the racetrack, drive in any direction, and explore open areas.

In Japan, Mario Kart World will be available in both physical and digital editions, with the physical version priced at 9,980 yen and the digital version at 8,980 yen. Nintendo has also announced that more details will be revealed during the Mario Kart World Direct presentation on April 17 at 6:00 a.m. PT / 9:00 a.m. ET.
