CD Projekt Red has officially confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will support NVIDIA DLSS on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This makes it the first known game on the platform to utilize the AI-powered upscaling technology developed by NVIDIA.
The confirmation came through the latest episode of Digital Foundry’s weekly podcast. The tech experts at Digital Foundry revealed that they received word directly from CD Projekt Red, stating that a “version” of DLSS, supported by the hardware’s Tensor Cores, will be implemented across all four display modes. These include docked Quality, docked Performance, handheld Quality, and handheld Performance.
Although the available gameplay footage does not clearly showcase DLSS in action, Digital Foundry took a closer look at the highest-quality version of the video. The low-quality post-processing, which is rendered at a lower resolution than the gameplay itself, made it challenging to spot the typical DLSS visual indicators. However, they did a closer inspection and found subtle signs suggesting that the upscaler is indeed being used.
In addition to DLSS support, CD Projekt Red also shared details about the game’s resolution targets. All display modes aim for a 1080p output, except for handheld Performance mode, which targets 720p. The game also includes dynamic resolution scaling. For modes targeting 1080p, the internal resolution may scale as low as 540p, while the handheld Performance mode can drop to 360p. This flexible scaling helps ensure smoother performance across different gameplay scenarios.
