Google has officially launched the Pixel 9a in India. The phone comes with a 6.3-inch FHD+ OLED display, Tensor G4 SoC, and a 5100mAh battery.
The Pixel 9a ditches the camera bump and comes with a sleeker, more refined design. It features rounded edges, a matte back, and a polished aluminum frame. The device is now IP68-rated, offering better dust and water resistance compared to the IP67 rating on the Pixel 8a.
The Pixel 9a features a 6.3-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Google has also improved the brightness and it now reaches 2700 nits. This should result in better outdoor visibility. The display also supports HDR. It also has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
The phone packs Google’s Tensor G4 SoC, paired with the Titan M2 security chip for added protection. The chipset is optimized for AI-powered features and real-time processing. The phone comes with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM for smooth multitasking. It is available in two storage variants: 128GB (UFS 3.1) and 256GB (UFS 3.1).
The Pixel 9a runs Android 15 out of the box and will receive seven years of OS updates, security patches, and Feature Drops, ensuring a long software lifecycle.
The phone has a 48MP main sensor with OIS and a 13MP ultra-wide camera. It also has a 13MP selfie camera. The phone supports 4K video recording on both front and rear cameras. It also has several; AI-powered camera features including Magic Eraser & Audio Magic Eraser, Night Sight & Astrophotography, and Best Take & Magic Editor.
The Pixel 9a features stereo speakers for an immersive audio experience. It also includes two microphones for clearer calls and video recordings. It packs a 3.5mm headphone jack, so you’ll need USB Type-C audio or wireless earbuds.
The Pixel 9a supports dual SIM (nano + eSIM) and a wide range of connectivity options, including 5G SA/NSA, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 6, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, BeiDou, NavIC, and NFC. Google has included an in-display fingerprint sensor, making it easy to unlock the phone.
The smartphone packs a 5100mAh battery, up from 4492mAh in the Pixel 8a. The phone supports 23W wired fast charging and retains 7.5W wireless charging.
Pricing & Availability
The Pixel 9a is priced at ₹49,999 in India for the 256GB variant and will be available in Iris, Obsidian, and Porcelain colors via Flipkart in April. India will not get the Peony color variant.
