1Password has introduced a smart new feature called “Nearby Items.” The feature lets users tie passwords and other credentials to physical locations. This means that when you are near a saved location, 1Password will automatically surface the relevant details, making access faster and more intuitive.

With this update, users can add location tags to any new or existing item in their 1Password vault. The app shows a map view where users can set and manage these locations. The feature will help in many ways. For example, you arrive at your workplace and your access code pops up, or you get the gym locker code when you reach the Gym.

1Password's 'Nearby Items' Feature

Since location-based features can raise privacy concerns, 1Password reassures users that their coordinates never leave the device. Everything is processed locally. The feature is also optional. If you don’t want to use it, you can disable it at anytime.

The Nearby Items feature is rolling out to all 1Password users starting today. If you are already using 1Password, update your app and try it out.
