Leading food delivery platform Zomato has announced a major rebranding. The company is changing its company name to “Eternal.” The move has already been approved by the board and the company people have been using the name internally for over two years. The change in name reflects the broader vision and expansion beyond its core food delivery service.
Zomato began using Eternal internally after acquiring Blinkit to distinguish between the company and the food delivery business. The company planned to publicly adopt the name when other businesses became significant growth drivers.
In a letter to shareholders, Zomato’s founder and CEO, Deepinder Goyal, confirmed the name change. Once shareholders approve the change, the corporate website will transition from zomato.com to eternal.com, and the stock ticker will be updated from ZOMATO to ETERNAL.
Eternal will encompass four major businesses:
- Zomato (food delivery platform)
- Blinkit (quick commerce and grocery delivery)
- Hyperpure (B2B supplies for restaurants)
- Dining and Loyalty Programs (District)
Zomato began back in 2007 as Foodiebay and later rebranded to Zomato. Over the years, the company has achieved remarkable milestones. It also became the first Indian startup to be listed on the BSE Sensex in December 2023.
The rebranding shows Zomato’s evolution from a food delivery platform to a larger conglomerate encompassing multiple business verticals. The name signifies a long-term vision of innovation and sustainability beyond food tech.
