Snapdragon 6 Gen 4

Qualcomm has today officially announced the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 Mobile Platform, a next-generation SoC designed to offer high performance, extended battery life, and advanced AI capabilities. Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 boasts to introduce powerful improvements in gaming, photography, and connectivity.

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 is built with a newly architected Qualcomm Kryo CPU and an enhanced Adreno GPU. The SoC is the first in the series to use TSMC’s 4nm node. It features an octa-core CPU that has 1x Prime Core clocked at 2.3 GHz for high-performance tasks, 3x Performance Cores running at 2.2 GHz for smooth multitasking, and 4x Efficiency Cores clocked at 1.8 GHz to ensure power savings during lightweight operations. This setup provides a balance of power efficiency and raw performance.

The Adreno GPU in the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 delivers significant improvements in graphical performance. It supports modern APIs such as OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 FP, and Vulkan 1.3. Additionally, hardware-accelerated H.265 and VP9 decoding enhances media playback and gaming performance.

It promises smoother multitasking, faster app launches, and better gaming performance. Compared to its predecessor, it boasts a 12% increase in CPU performance and a 29% boost in GPU capabilities. Moreover, the platform is optimized for extended battery life.

Gamers will appreciate the new Snapdragon Game Super Resolution feature. It intelligently upscales visuals to 4K resolution to deliver stunning clarity. The Adreno HDR Fast Blend technology accelerates complex scene rendering by 2x to enhance realism while maintaining power efficiency. Furthermore, the Adreno Frame Motion Engine doubles frame rates without excessive battery drain for a seamless and immersive gaming experience.

With the Qualcomm Spectra Triple ISP, users can capture high-quality photos and record videos simultaneously. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 supports 200MP single shots, 4K HDR video recording, and Snapdragon Low-Light Vision (LLV) technology. These features allow devices to capture stunning shots in various lighting conditions while reducing noise and improving clarity.

Snapdragon Sound technology ensures wireless lossless audio via Qualcomm aptX™ for high-fidelity music streaming and immersive gaming. AI-powered noise cancellation and contextual sound enhancements are also there to improve call quality and overall audio experiences. The device’s AI features help with tasks like summarizing content, drafting emails, and suggesting apps. It also introduces INT4 precision support, a first for the Snapdragon 6 series.

It is equpped with the Snapdragon 5G Modem-RF System and supports mmWave and sub-6 GHz 5G faster speeds and broader network compatibility. The SoC also has Wi-Fi 6E and Triple-Frequency GPS (L1/L5/L2).
