Instagram has quietly introduced a new feature that allows users to schedule direct messages (DMs). This feature will benefit creators and brands who want to reach out to their audience at specific times.
Social Media expert Lindsey Gamble spotted the feature and posted about it on Threads. I also tried it on my phone and it worked. Here’s a screenshot of it.
How to Schedule a DM on Instagram
Scheduling a message on Instagram is simple:
- Type out your message in a chat.
- Hold down the send button.
- Select the desired date and time for the message to be delivered.
- It will deliver the message at the scheduled time.
Users can schedule a message up to 29 days in advance.
Once you schedule a message, it will show a banner to notify you about the Scheduled message every time you open the chat until the message is delivered.
Instagram is enhancing its messaging experience to compete with platforms like Snapchat and iMessage. The latest updates include features such as live location sharing, customizable nicknames, and advanced message filters, making DMs more dynamic and user-friendly.
The company has been testing the feature for a select group of users for the past few days and now it is rolled out globally to all users.
