Sony’s PlayStation 5 Pro is on its way to global markets, but Indian gamers will have to wait a bit longer. Sony has confirmed that PlayStation 5 Pro will not be available in certain countries, including India. The reason is the regulatory restrictions on the 6GHz wireless band, which is essential for Wi-Fi 7 technology.

PS5 Pro will not be available in some countries (which presently includes India) where 6GHz wireless band used in IEEE 802.11be (Wi-Fi 7) has not yet been allowed,” Sony India said in the official statement.

Wi-Fi 7 is the latest wireless standard that offers significantly higher speeds and lower latency compared to its predecessors. It uses a 6GHz band. However, this frequency band has not yet been granted in some regions, including India. Without Wi-Fi7, gamers won’t be able to enjoy the console’s full potential. To ensure a seamless user experience with PS5 Pro, Sony decided to delay the launch.

It is also important to understand that regulatory processes can take time. So, there’s no confirmed timeline for the India launch.

Although India is not a big, but a significant market for gaming. So, the delay in launch could potentially impact Sony’s business. Sony will likely continue to work closely with Indian regulatory authorities to speed up the approval process for the 6GHz band.

In the meantime, Indian gamers can think about getting the current generation PlayStation 5 which also offers a fantastic gaming experience.
