Meta has unveiled a big update for Messenger to offer an enhanced calling experience. The update brings several features include AI backgrounds, HD video calls, AI-powered noise suppression, and more.
The company is adding AI backgrounds for video calls. It now allows users to add AI-generated backgrounds during video calls. Fo Tap the effects icon during a video call, select “Backgrounds,” and explore AI-powered visuals tailored to your mood. So, you now have a creative way to make calls more entertaining.
Meta is also adding HD video calls and advanced sound features, including background noise suppression and voice isolation. The good thing is that HD video calls will be enabled by default over WiFi. If you are using cellular data, you need to activate HD through call settings. You can also enable Noise suppression in the call menu for clearer conversations in noisy environments.
Messenger is also introducing audio and video voice messages. So, users can now leave personalized messages when a call goes unanswered. Simply tap the “Record message” button to send an audio or video message after an unanswered call.
Messenger is also integrating with Siri to enable hands-free communication. Users can ask Siri to send messages or make calls on their behalf. Just say “Hey Siri, send a message to John on Messenger,” followed by the dictated text.
Meta has already started rolling out these features to users gradually.
