OpenAI has expanded the Advanced Voice Mode of ChatGPT to the web. So, users can now have voice conversations with ChatGPT on a web browser. Kevin Weil, OpenAI’s chief product officer, confirmed the news on X.
To start a voice conversation with ChatGPT on the web, tap the Voice icon on the bottom-right of ChatGPT’s prompt window. The web browser will ask permission to access your computer’s microphone. Once you allow it, you can start the voice conversation. Users can select from nine output voices for ChatGPT.
ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode uses OpenAI’s GPT-4o to allow natural, real-time conversations between users and ChatGPT. ChatGPT can understand and respond to non-verbal cues. It can also respond with emotions.
The Advanced Voice Mode was added to ChatGPT back in September but it was only available in Android and iOS apps until today.
Right now, it is one valuable for Plus, Enterprise, Teams, and Edu subscribers. The company will roll it out to free users in the coming weeks.
