Vivo Takes the Lead in Indian Smartphone Market

The Canalys report for Q3 2024 is out now and it provides some amazing numbers about India’s smartphone market. As per the report, the Indian smartphone market witnessed solid year-on-year growth in Q3, 2024. Over 47.1 million smartphone shipments were recorded in Q3, 2024 as compared to 43.1 million shipments in Q3, 2023. It results in a solid 9% year-on-year growth.

Vivo has managed to secure the top position in the Indian smartphone market. It shipped 9.1 million units in this quarter and managed to grab a 19% market share. The company saw an annual growth of 26%. Xiaomi, including its sub-brand POCO, continues to maintain the 2nd position and it shipped 7.8 million shipments. The company had a 17% market share in Q3 2024 and recorded an annual growth of 3%.

Vivo Takes the Lead in Indian Smartphone

Samsung saw a slight dip in both market share and shipments. It shipped 7.5 million smartphones and secured a 16% market share in Q3, 2024. It recorded a 4% decline in its annual growth.

Oppo had an excellent quarter and it recorded annual growth of 43%, the highest among the top five vendors. The company shipped 6.3 million units and captured a market share of 13% in Q3, 2024.

Realme was once the fastest-growing smartphone brand. Now it is experiencing a decline in both shipments and market share. The company shipped 5.3 million smartphones in Q3, 2024, and managed to grab a market share of 11%. If we compare it with the same quarter in 2023, the company shipped 5.8 million units and had a 13% market share in Q3, 2023.

Other smartphone brands including OnePlus, Motorola, and others collectively accounted for 11.1 million shipments in Q3 2024. This segment also saw growth and indicates a healthy demand for less prominent brands
