Apple has introduced an updated iMac with the new M4 chip. The new iMac promises 1.7x faster performance for daily productivity and up to 2.1x faster performance for demanding workflows compared to the iMac with M1. Apple has also introduced new color options. The new iMac comes in green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, and blue.
The new iMac retains the 24-inch 4.5K Retina display. The display also has a new nano-texture glass option that boasts to reduce reflections and glare while maintaining image quality. For this, you will be charged extra.
It packs an Apple M4 chip that includes a 10-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine. The M4 chip also supports Hardware-accelerated ray tracing. Apple also claims that the new iMac offers up to 2x higher frame rates than on iMac with M1. The device comes in 16GB or 24GB unified memory options, and it is configurable up to 32 GB. You also get 256GB or 512GB options but configurable up to 2TB.
The device runs macOS Sequoia 15.1 out of the box. You also get Apple Intelligence which brings several AI features.
There is also a 1080p FaceTime HD camera with an Advanced image signal processor. It also has a three-mic array that promises Studio-quality sound with a high signal-to-noise ratio and directional beamforming.
Apple has also introduced the updated Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Trackpad. These accessories now feature USB-C charging ports, so you can charge all devices with one cable. Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard are included with the iMac but customers need to purchase Magic Trackpad separately.
The new iMac has four USB-C ports with support for Thunderbolt 4. So, users can connect more accessories like external storage, docks, and up to two 6K external displays. The device also has both Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
