Meta’s popular text-based social media platform, Threads, has added the ability to tag your location to Threads Posts. A few users noted the change and started adding locations to their Threads posts. It seems the feature is currently available only on mobile apps.
The feature works the same way it works on Instagram. If you get the feature, you will see the location icon in the post composer. Tapping on this icon will show you a list of nearby places to tag. You can also manually search for a location to tag it to the post. When you use the feature for the first time, the app will also ask you to grant permission to access their location.
The platform will use the location-sharing grater to customize the experience by offering “personalized content” about places nearby. The company could also use locations for offering breaking news and other timely events for a specific location.
