At its Apple Event, Apple has announced the latest iPhone 16. It comes with a refreshed design that includes an Action button and a dedicated camera control button.
iPhone 16 features an aerospace-grade aluminum build. It is also water- and dust-resistant. The new glass-ceramic screen also claims to be 50 percent tougher than its predecessor. The phone has a similar design from the front but has a redesigned camera setup on the back. Now dual cameras are arranged vertically.
There is now a dedicated Camera Control button to capture photos and video quality. You will also be able to adjust camera settings by sliding your finger on this Camera Control button. This button also works with Apple’s visual intelligence feature that will be launched later this year. It will help you get information about anything you capture using the camera. For example, capture a photo of a restaurant to get its review, menu, and opening hours. Capture a photo of a dog to know its breed or capture a photo of an event pamphlet to add it to your calendar events.
The iPhone 16 features the same 6.1-inch display and the iPhone 16 Plus retains the 6.7-inch screen size. The display can reach up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness and go as low as 1 nit.
It packs an A18 chip that is manufactured using a 3nm process. It boasts to be 30 percent faster than the iPhone 15 chip. It also has a 40 percent faster GPU and an upgraded neural engine. iPhone 16 also supports AAA games that were previously only available to iPhone 15 Pro models. It also supports hardware-accelerated ray-tracing that is said to offer 5 times higher frame rates than software-accelerated ray-tracing.
The phone features a dual camera setup with 48 megapixel primary wide-angle camera and an 8 megapixel ultra-wide angle camera. The primary camera also has 2x telephoto optical zoom capability. The ultra-wide camera now has auto-focus. The phone can also capture Spatial Photos and Videos for Vision Pro headset. This is the first time Apple is offering macro mode in the No-Pro iPhone models. The camera can also record 4K videos at 60 frames per second with Dolby Vision.
Apple is also bringing Wi-Fi 7 to iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. Emergency SOS function is also getting an update. Now you will be able to share live videos.
Apple also claims that there’s a bigger battery in iPhone 16 offering a slightly better battery life. iPhone 16 measures 147.6×71.6×7.80mm and weighs 170g. On the other hand dimensions of iPhone 16 Plus measure 160.9×77.8×7.80mm and it weighs 199g.
The iPhone 16 starts at $799 and the iPhone 16 Plus starts at $899. These phones will be available in five colors including Ultra Marine, Teal, Pink, White, and Black.
