Sony today announced the launch of PlayStation Portal Remote Player in India. The PlayStation Portal remote player is a handheld gaming device that lets users play PS5 games over a Home WiFi network with console-quality controls.
This is just an attachment to the existing PlayStation 5 console. If you are on the same WiFi network as your PlayStation 5, you can play games on this handheld gaming device. The device uses PlayStation 5 as a source and connects to the PS5 over the WiFi network. It streams the visuals and audio to the Portal’s 8-inch LCD screen and uses its built-in DualSense controller to play the game.
The device features an 8-inch LCD display that promises to offer a clear and immersive gaming experience. It has a touch screen but only for navigation. For playing the game, there’s a built-in dual-sense controller. The controller provides good haptic feedback and also features adaptive triggers. It has the same layout as in the standard DualSense. So, you don’t need to learn new controls.
The device uses the processing power of PlayStation 5. So, it doesn’t feature any powerful processor or GPU.
Sony PlayStation Portal remote player uses PS Link wireless protocol for low-latency communication with the PS5. If your home wifi network is good, you will get a seamless gaming experience. There’s also a USB-C port for charging.
PlayStation Portal Remote Player is priced at Rs. 18990 and will be available starting August 3.
