Primate Labs, the maker of Geekbench, has introduced a new AI benchmark tool Geekbench AI. This tool tells you how efficiently your device can handle real-world machine-learning tasks. Geekbench AI is a cross-platform benchmark tool and is now available for macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android.
During the preview stage, this tool was called Geekbench ML. Now that it is available for general use, the company decided to name it Geekbench AI. Geekbench AI assesses the performance of CPU, GPU, and NPU in machine learning tasks.
The tool runs a series of AI workloads on the device. These workloads include various machine-learning tasks such as object detection, image classification, and natural language processing. Then it calculates scores providing the ability of the device’s AI capabilities. Each test provides three scores – single precision, half precision, and quantized. It also provides insights into power consumption and performance per watt. A higher score generally indicates better performance in handling AI tasks.
Now that we have so many LLMs and AI tools, software companies have integrated AI into our daily lives. So, there was a need for accurate and reliable benchmarks to understand if the device is capable of running AI tasks. Geekbench AI addresses this challenge.
This tool will help both device Manufacturers and consumers. Manufacturers can use this benchmark tool to identify performance bottlenecks in their devices. Consumers can use it while buying a device such as a smartphone or laptop.
