Today at WWDC 2024, Apple announced that iOS 18 will soon get the ability to lock or hide apps. So, iPhone users will be able to hide apps for privacy reasons.
Locked apps will be shown in a separate hidden folder. The hidden folder will also require authentication. So, no one can see what apps you have hidden.
Locked apps will require ID, Touch ID, or passcode authentication to open the app. When an app is locked, it won’t be shown in the App Library. Any information related to the app won’t be shown in other places like notifications and searches.
This is finally a relief for iPhone users. iPhone users have been asking for a native option to hide or lock apps for a long time. There are a few third-party apps that let users hide apps on iPhones. However, the native option is always better.
