Asus has launched its new handheld gaming console Asus ROG Ally X at Computer 2024. This new handheld console is the successor to Asus ROG Ally, launched last year. The most notable upgrades are a new motherboard, increased RAM and Storage, and a larger battery.

Asus ROG Ally X features a 7-inch full-HD IPS display. The display has a 120Hz refresh rate, a 7ms response time, and a peak brightness of 500 nits. There is also Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection to protect the display. To prevent screen tearing, the company has also added AMD FreeSync Premium.

The device is powered by AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor. Although the processor is the same as in the predecessor, the new device users a different motherboard. It also has RDNA 3 iGPU and 24GB LPDDR5 RAM. ROG Ally X also has 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD. Asus has also added a Microsoft Pluton security processor to protect user data and apps.

The device runs Windows 11 out of the box. So, you can run any games or services you could in your Windows PC or laptop.

The company has also upgraded joysticks to make it better. The D-Pad also claims to offer more precise 8-direction input. It has smaller M1 and M2 buttons to avoid accidental presses.

ROG Ally X has a 2-speaker system with support for Dolby Atmos and Smart Amplifier Technology. It also has an in-built array microphone and supports AI noise cancellation.

Connectivity options are Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, Thunderbolt 4 port with DisplayPort support, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a UHS-II microSD card reader. The device also packs an 80Wh 4-cell Li-ion battery and supports 65W charging via USB Type-C.

Asus ROG Ally X is priced at $799 and is now available for pre-order. It will go on sale in July 2024.
